“We have just been discussing your political education,” Princess Pachenta said, handing the young Catacorn a plate of breakfast pastries and a cup of ginger tea.
“Yes,” the Empress added, “it, sounds like you are doing very well. You’ve even been to court with Barrister Rhodocrus, I hear. That’s impressive.”
“Well, I just sit and listen mostly, and take a few notes,” Gypsa answered humbly.
“Still, Barrister Rhodocrus is one of the best, perhaps the best,” the Empress intoned. Her voice was like shards of ice. Or was that her voice? Was Gypsa picking up something from Shattadelle’s mind? Surely, not! She wasn’t even trying.
